About

Ms. Jacqueline A. Fairley is a recent Ph.D. graduate from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the Georgia Institute of Technology. A native of Kansas City, Missourishe obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and minor in Mathematics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Digital Signal Processing and a minor in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Insititute of Technology.

Her undergraduate research on Wireless Ceramic Pressure Sensors conducted during her participation in the SURE program at Georgia Tech under the guidance of Dr. Mark Allen received first place in the National Society of Black Engineers Technical Research Symposium Technical Paper Contest.

Ms. Fairley has conducted research on underfilled flip chips at the Motorola Advanced Technology Center located in Schaumburg, Illinois under the GEM fellowship. She also has experience as a Summer Manager at AT&T Bell Laboratories located in Middleton, New Jersey. She investigated interference issues related to IEEE 802.11b standard for Wireless Local Area Networks.

Her doctoral research focus involved the investigation of novel methods for quantitative sleep modeling and artifact removal for polysomnographic data. These areas were explored via Hidden Markov Models, the generalized singular valued decomposition, kNN classification, and particle swarm optimization. Her career goals include the attainment of an academic position at a research oriented institution and consulting.

She is passionate about community involvement and the promotion of undergraduate research programs. Ms. Fairley has presided as the Program Coordinator for the SURE program under the direction of Dr.Gary S. May and Dr. Leyla Conrad and is a sponsor of the National Society of Black Engineers Junior Chapter at Tri-Cities High School.
