- This project was three year’s project sponsored by Korea Ministry of Science and Technology to develop intelligent autonomous adaptive system based on information processing mechanism in brain. I developed optimal structure design learning various situations under the robot environment using neural network, wavelet neural network, radial basis function network and fuzzy logic.

- I developed learning system for AT transmission by using ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and TCU (Transmission Control Unit) and neural network computation program for training data that is acquired from TCU and communication protocol to control between ECU and TCU.

- Development of Core Technology for Intelligent Wearable Module

- For the application and development of wearable computing module with PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), I developed the basic intelligent algorithm by using sensor fusion. In this project, the PDA device was used as a wearable display, remote control of mobile robot by PDA was developed, motion capture by magnetic sensor on the hat was developed, and voice recognition algorithm was developed by software and hardware. Also, I managed the whole project schedule and core design of target system. For application on PDA device, windows programming and visual eMbedded program was developed by me.

- Research on Human Behavior System Based on Brain Information Processing Mechanism

- I developed intelligent information processing layer as a standard form based on the biological brain information processing mechanism. In order to implement efficient model for information processing, I had researched on biological mechanism of brain, especially Cerebral Cortex, Amygdala, Papez Circuit, and Hippocampus. As a result, the standard 5-layered structure was proposed and the related protocol definition was provided. It can be used as a standard layer such as communication standard, 7-layer structure in other area. Moreover, several applications by using developed 5-layer were introduced as real implementations including sensory input learning, memory management, emotion estimation, behavior decision and behavior planning.

- Research on Modular Robot (Snake-like Robot)

- I designed and developed modular robot that can be operated alone. It includes ultrasonic sensor module, gas detection sensor, temperature measurement sensor, light detection sensor and display module. The robot also has an autonomous navigation function and collision avoidance by programming C code using neural network learning.

- I designed and developed small but functional robot that can be operated alone. It has several functions such as time alarm, wake-up sound, voice recognition, following specific colored moving materials and temperature measurement.

- Development of Mobile Broadcasting Platform for Transmitting Information from Remote System

- I developed intelligent arrangement algorithm for virtual cameras that can be used as 3D broadcasting. This project is a part of Samsung Electronics and Omnitel Co., Ltd. in Korea. The developed algorithm was implemented by windows program and demonstrated on the real system.

- Development of Wearable Intelligent and Interactive Module

- The goal of this project is to develop intelligent software core module which can be applied to various functions as a SoC type. I had managed the project from Sep. 2004 as a chief manager and discussed software core standard with SoC manufacturing company. As a result, more than 10 software cores are successfully developed and equipped on SoC test board. The significant meaning is to develop artificial intelligent functions that was performed in the PC or eMbedded system level as a software core module which can enable the module be easily transferred and settled in any system having SoC inside. The developed intelligent functions include intelligent user interface, intelligent car navigation functions onto PDA, graphical avatar object generation, emotion detection, and voice recognition.

- As a reference guide, Bucheon city wanted to provide road-map and suggested application to the companies located inside Bucheon city for a huge robot project. The project reported Bucheon city about the technical trend, market issue, international leading item, killer applications and supporting policy.

- My research involved design of machine learning method which can be used for DNA sequence learning and pattern matching. We were using variety of resources for this research including micro-array data and machine learning tools. Especially, using neural networks and fuzzy logic, I designed machine learning tools for application in the area of bioinformatics. The interesting goal was to design autonomous growing system based on from protein level up to soft computing method level.
